Dhanapala visits Amparai

Mr.Jayantha Dhanapala, Secretary General of Sri Lanka's Peace Secretariat and Senior Advisor to Sri Lanka's President, visited Ampara on Wednesday "in pursuance of a policy of visiting the six district offices of the SLMM for the purpose of ensuring the smooth implementation of the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA)," a media release from the Secretariat said Wednesday.
The release continued: "Mr. Dhanapala held discussions with Mr. Raimo Rastas, Head of the SLMM,Ampara District and the local representatives on the Committee, reviewing
statistics for complaints and violations which reveal that Ampara is oneof the districts with a low number of ruled violations against GOSL as well as the LTTE. He complimented the committee on the cooperative
atmosphere prevailing among the members and their practice of conflictresolution and peace building with a view to reducing the number of ceasefire violations. "In the afternoon Mr. Dhanapala met with Mr. Herath Abeyweera, GA for the Ampara District and civil society representatives. He briefed them on the current situation in the Peace Process and was informed by them of the
developments in the district and the concerns of civil society in the area. "Earlier in the day, the SCOPP Head received detailed briefings from personnel from [Sri Lanka's] Security Forces and the Police."
