Colonel Kittu remembered in Jaffna, Trincomalee

Twelfth death anniversary of Colonel Kittu, senior commander of the
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and nine other cadres was observed
in Jaffna and Trincomalee Sunday. They committed suicide when the Indian
Navy seized the ship they travelled in January 1993.
Large number of Tamils attended the event held at Theeruvil in
Valvettithurai Sunday evening with Mr.Thamilarasan, head of the Udupiddy
Ellankulam division.Mr.E.Thaya, Vadamaradchchi Division LTTE head lit the
flame of sacrifice and Mr.Cheliyan, Deputy head of the Sea Tigers hoisted
the Thamileelam national flag. Mr.Mohan, Official of the Federation of
Fisheries Societies garlanded the monument, sources said. Thereafter Jaffna district Tamil National Alliance (TNA)
parliamentarianMr.K.Sivanesan and several representatives of the civil
groups garlanded the photographs of all LTTE cadres sacrificed on 16th
January 1993. Mr.Sivanesan, Ms Kalaivilizhi, Jaffna district women political wing of the
LTTE and Mr.Suriyakumaran of Vadamaradchchi Fisheries Co-operative
Federation spoke. Meanwhile another event took place in the heart of Jaffna town at Kittu
Park, which is located in Muththirai Santhi with Mr.Cheliyan, Jaffna Town
LTTE head in the chair.
TNA Parliamentarian Ms Pathmini Sithamparanathan lit the common flame of
sacrifice followed by Mr.Solomon Cyril, President of Civil Forum,
Mr.Kannan, head of the Jaffna Students Forum and Mr.K.Sivakaran, Secretary
of the Jaffna University Students Forum, sources said. Twelfth death anniversary of Colonel Kittu and other nine LTTE cadres were
remembered in Trincomalee Sunday evening. An event to mark the day was held
at the office of the LTTE Trincomalee town political secretariat presided
by Mr.Sivakumar, Trincomalee Town Political Head. Mr.Kutty, Head of the
Civil Groups in the district lit the flame of sacrifice and Colonel Kittu's
mother-in-law garlanded Kittu's photograph. Mr.V.Vigneswaran delivered the
keynote address.
