The delegation led by Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan, the head of political section of the LTTE, on Wednesday, met with Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Head of Political Affairs Division IV (Human Security), Switzerlands Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and discussed the post-tsunami joint mechanism and the current state of peace process.
Had the Government of Sri Lanka, as one party to the CFA, implemented the clauses relating to resettlement of the war-displaced from the Jaffna peninsula without denying access to the peasantry under the cover of High Security Zones (HSZ), hundereds of people who were compelled to take shelter in the coastline areas and were swept away by the tsunami waves could have been saved from death, Mr. Thamilchelvan told the Swiss Foreign Ministry officials, according to the website of the LTTE Peace Secretariat. "Swiss Government is looking forward the forging of an understanding between the parties in this humanitarian crisis management which will help build mutual confidence, an essential element in taking forward the stalled peace process", quoted the LTTE website Mr. Greminger as saying to the LTTE delegation. Earlier on Monday, LTTE delegation met with Ms. Ingrid Massage of the Amnesty International in Geneva.
