Victory theme in celebrations - VoT

[TamilNet, Thursday, 14 May 1998, 23:59 GMT]
The theme of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam s (LTTE) celebrations to mark the first anniversary of Operation Jayasikurui was 'Victory will be Ours', said the Voice of Tigers (VoT) in its broadcast last night.

Strategic junctions were decorated, while large portraits of members of the LTTE who had died in action adorned streets in areas within LTTE control, said the radio.

Members of the public sported badges which read Victory will be Ours, said the broadcast.

It said that the LTTE flag was carried by relays of runners, from villagers in the Wanni area within LTTE control such as Pandiyankulam, Mallavi, Thunukkai, Aalankerni, Ottisuddan, Nayaru, Mulliyavalai, Visvamadu, Mulankavil etc., who converged at Paalayakulam, west of Mankulam, which is within the Operation Jayasikurui area said the radio.

Members of the public, hand in hand, lined the streets down which the flag was carried said the radio.

The flags were received by the LTTE's General Karuna at Paalyakulam, said sources.

Meanwhile, a photographic exhibition of the LTTE was also held at Puthkudiyurppu, in the Wanni, said the VoT.
