TRO donates computer to Muslim council

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) Saturday donated a computer and printer to the Kinniya Jamiethul Ulama (Muslim Theologian) Council to strengthen its administrative capacity in supporting tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction activities, sources said. The Muslim dominated Kinniya divisional secretariat division is the worst affected in tsunami disaster
in the Trincomalee district.

TRO district Director Mr.S.Wijekumar handed the computer and its accessories to Moulavi Hathiathullah, Secretary of the Jamiethul Ulama Council in an event held at the TRO offices in Trincomalee. Mr.Ibunu
Suhood, Co-ordinator of the Tsunami rehabilitation project with the TRO
also participated. Mr.V.Kalaivarnan, TRO district project officer was also
present, sources said. During the second week of May, Mr.K.P.Regi, Executive Director of the TRO, visited Kinniya and inspected the post-tsunami rehabilitation and
reconstruction works. Mr.Regi also paid a visit to the office of the
Kinniya Jamiethul Ulama Council, which is a partner organization of the TRO
in Kinniya. Jamiethul Ulama Council officials at the discussion made a
request to Mr Regi to assist them to computerised their
administration for effective implementation of post-tsunami rehabilitation
and reconstruction projects. Moulavi Hathiathullah accepting the donation said that they were very
thankful for this gesture and said this will further
strengthen the existing cordial relationship between Tamils and Muslims in
the Trincomalee district.
