ILO funds bakery training center in Mannar

International Labor Organization (ILO) funded Bakery Training Center was opened in Illupaikadavai in Mannar district Thursday at 10 am sources in Mannar said. Ten teen aged boys and girls who dropped out of school due to war, and another ten women head of households were selected to receive training to build bakery skills in the center.

The Training center will be under the administration of The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), an NGO working mainly in the NorthEast. The opening event was presided by TECH's Field Officer S Jasikaran. Representative of Canada TECH Mr P William, Mr Jeyakumar from TECH's Planning division, President of Illupaikadavai Women's Development Organization Ms Subashini and Chairman of Illupaikadavai Sea Workers Union Ms Rubi lit the ceremonial lamp. Mr K Thangavelu has been appointed as the training teacher for the center. TECH's Executive Director said that his organization's mission is to develop technology driven large scale projects that bring economic benefit to NorthEast region as well as small scale projects that raise the income levels of rural folks by providing new employment opportunities.
