Mayor's funeral on Wednesday

The funeral of Jaffna Mayoress, Mrs. Sarojini Yogeswaran, who was shot dead yesterday, will be held on Wednesday May 20 in Colombo said a spokesman for the TULF today.

Mr. V. Anandasangari, The TULF vice president, Mr. S. Sivabapalan, the TULF's advisor, Mr. S. Suthaharan,the TULF organiser in Vavuniya, Advocate Mr. Raviraj, a prominent member of the TULF, Mr. Aravinthan, TULF's youths front and some of Mrs. Yogeswaran's family members flew to Jaffna this morning in special flight.

The general secretary of the TULF and MP for Trincomalee Mr. R. Sambandan, Dr. Neelan Thiruchelvam, MP and Mr. Mavai Senathirajah, a senior member of the party leadership who went to India to participate in a seminar are said to be flying back to Sri Lanka, said TULF sources.

Members of the other groups representing Jaffna Municipal Council (JMC), including the EPDP, EPRLF and other parties are paying their last respects to Mrs. Yogeswaran, whose body is at her house.

There aren't many people from Jaffna town going to the house said, sources in Jaffna.

Jaffna is very quiet today with less activity than usual in the town, they said

Her body will be kept at the JMC for the public to pay their respects tomorrow and later it will be handed over to her relatives who will take it to Colombo for the funeral which is planned on Wednesday.
