JVP to take legal action against P-TOMS

"We contemplate to take legal action against the Joint Mechanism agreement as it is signed violating the constitution of the country", said Mr.Wimal Weeravanse, parliamentary group leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) at a press briefing held in the Committee Room of the parliamentary complex held Friday, sources said.

Thirty of thirty-nine JVP parliamentarians attended the press briefing held for about an hour after the adjournment of the parliament for July 5. Mr.Wimal Weerawnase further said, "Our country has no good leaders. Our aim is to produce better leaders. The joint mechanism has been introduced by a group of NGOs and foreign countries. The JM is an extension of the Cease Fire Agreement which Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe and Mr.Pirapaharan signed on 22nd February, 2002." "We cannot allow the country to be sold for 45 billion Dollars for the World Bank and countries which have come forward to provide financial assistance," Mr.Wimal Weeravanse said.
