The TWA has established two homes for children orphaned by wars and the recent Tsunami disaster at Mallikaitivu in Muttur division for girls and Sambaltivu in Trincomalee division for boys. Food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and education are provided to these children. The target is to provide these facilities to fifty children at each of these homes, TWA officials said.

The TWA has appointed Action Committees for the management of these two Homes and each Committee comprises seven members including four females. In addition a superintendent, a cook and a watcher have been appointed for each home.

Trincomalee Welfare Association has been implementing several projects which include maintaining homes for destitute children, providing financial assistance to poor students selected for university, salary to volunteer teachers in rural schools, supplying nutritious food to children, generating self-employment opportunities and distributing relief and rehabilitation assistance to persons who are affected by natural disasters.

In addition to these the TWA provides medical assistance to the needy in rural areas and conducts awareness campaign to keep the environment in the villages clean and safe, sources said.
