TRO opens first reconstructed village in Jaffna District

'Aattu Patti' a village in Karaveddy North, Jaffna District, the first village to have been reconstructed by the Tamils rehabilitation Organizatino (TRO) with ADB funding under the Social Reconstruction programme was declared open and handed over to the beneficiaries on 14 September, sources in Jaffna said.
The reconstructed village was ceremoniously declared open by Mr.Lankanesan Director of Planning and Social Reconstruction by unveiling the Memorial Stone. The ceremony was presided by Mr.S.Jeyarajah, Director TRO, Jaffna District. Mr.Sivalingam, Chairman, Village Reconstruction committee handed over the documents of entitlement to the beneficiaries by ,after receiving them from Mr.Sathiyaseelan Divisional Secretary, Karaveddy North. Dr.V.Thiyagarajah chairman, TRO, Jaffna District, and Mr .Lankanesan said the village opening was a landmark event in the NorthEast's progress towards eradicating homelessness. Divisional Secretary Karaveddy, Assistant Director,Co-ordinater Social Reconstruction, Jaffna District, also spoke at the function as special guests.
