Heroes' day commemorations begin

Three days of events marking Heroes' day that falls on the 27 November began in Kilinochchi and other parts of the NorthEast Friday. Liberation Tiger cadres, officials, parents of fighters killed in war and workers participated in the newly opened Lt Col Malathy Memorial Hall, Charles Antony Memorial and at the Peace Secretariat building in Kilinochchi.
In the event at the LTTE Peace Secretariat premises presided by LTTE fighter C Kalaipiriyan, Deputy Head of LTTE Political Wing, S Thangan lit the common flame and LTTE Head of Political Wing, S P Thamilchelvan, hoisted the Tamileelam flag. Mother of three martyrs Ms Thavamani Theviyamma lit the flame of sacrifice and Ms Kanapathipillai Nagaratnam followed by others paid floral tribute to the LTTE martyrs' picture frames. Head of LTTE Women's Political Wing, Thamilini, lit the flame of sacrifice and Special Commander of Major Sothiya brigade, Col Thurga, hoisted the Tamileelam flag at the event Lt Col Malathy Hall event. Lt Col Vithusha hoisted the flag representing Lt Malathy brigade. Head of LTTE Political Wing, S P Thamilchelvan started the floral tributes to the Heroes picture frames lined along the walls of the memorial.
