Two arrested in Batticaloa

Two employees of the Batticaloa Municipal Council were arrested on Monday around 10 a.m. by the Sri Lankan Army's Intelligence unit. The Commissioner for the Batticaloa Municipal Council has brought this matter the Co-ordinating officer (CO).
The arrested employees, according to the Commissioner, are Mr. T.K.Wilson, Superintendent of Works (SW), and the council's carpenter, P.Rajan The arrests were made following information offered by Razeek Group cadres, said sources. The Razeek group is a paramilitary militia which operates with the Sri Lanka Army in the eastern province. Elsewhere, fifteen female students of the Jaffna University were assaulted on Monday morning by the Sri Lankan Army during a search operation near Kumaraswamy road, said university sources. The students have complained this to the Vice Chancellor.
