Pesali injured transferred to Colombo, A'pura hospitals

Twenty five police personnel injured in a grenade attack on a Pesalai
police post Monday night were transferred to Anuradhapura general hospital
and Colombo national hospital Tuesday morning around 11.30 a.m. in four
ambulances from Mannar hospital under tight security. Security concerns forced officials to initiate the move, police sources said.
Twenty police personnel including a sub-inspector were first admitted with
injuries Monday night in Mannar hospital soon after the attack. But another
five police personnel with less serious injuries were
admitted in the Mannar general hospital Tuesday morning. They were also
attending classes in the police post at that time of attack, sources said. Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Police conducted
a cordon and search operation in Pesalai located about
14 km off Mannar town from Monday night soon after the attack till noon
Tuesday. No one has yet been arrested relate to the grenade attack, residents
of the area said.
