Eight Tamil youths arrested in Puttalam checkpoint

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) soldiers arrested eight Tamil youths on Tuesday night at 7 p.m at the Manpuri checkpoint located in Puttalam - Kalpity Road, security sources said. All youths are residents of Liberation Tigers controlled area of Kaddaiparichchan in Mutur.

The youths were travelling in a private minibus and were arrested when the bus was checked at the Manpuri checkpoint.

The names of the arrested youths are:
  1. Kunam Kumaran
  2. Vadivel Nagarasa
  3. S Uvarasa
  4. Ramyah Kalirajah
  5. Kandan Nathan
  6. Sellappa Sivagnanam
  7. Eramuthu Balarajah
  8. Eramuthu Thuraisingam
The SLN handed over the youths to the Kalpity police station after arrest. Kalpity police Officer-In-Charge (OIC), Luxman Perera, said they are conducting investigations into the reasons for the group's travel.
