Kattankudy teen injured in gunfire

Nazar, 14, a muslim teenager, was seriously injured when he was accidently hit by gunfire from a muslim armed group during a drug related incident on Friday 8.30 p.m. at Apurahim road, Kattankudy in Batticaloa, source sin Batticaloa said.

Nazar was immediately taken to the Batticaloa Hospital and is being treated for his gunshot wounds, hospital sources said.

Local residents said a drug dealar was the target of gunfire. However the target escaped and the teen who was standing closeby was injured.

The house of the same drug dealer came under grenade attack few weeks ago, according to Kattandudy residents. In that incident the front of the house was damaged but there were no reported injuries.

Kattankudy is located 5 km south of Batticaloa town.
