Swedish Ambassador meets Jaffna NGOs, GA

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 08 February 2006, 18:57 GMT]
Mrs. Inga Eriksson Fogh, Swedish Ambassador to Sri Lanka, arrived in Jaffna Palaly airport Wednesday morning, sources in Jaffna said. The Ambassador spent the whole day Wednesday meeting civil leaders and representatives of relief organizations in Jaffna. [The Ambassador of Switzerland to Sri Lanka, Bernardino Regazzoni, did not travel to Jaffna. TamilNet regrets the error in the initial report.]

The Swedish Ambassador visited the offices of the Tamils Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) located at Temple Road in Nallur and discussed the activities of the relief organization with the workers there. Later in the afternoon, the Ambassador met the Government Agent (GA) of Jaffna, Mr K Ganesh, and talked about the ground situation in Jaffna.

The Ambassador met with representatives of non-Governmental organizations working in Jaffna at the offices of FORUT, and obtained detailed status of the projects funded by the Swedish Government that are being carried out by the NGOs.
