Swedish Tamils assist Muttur children's home

Expatriate Tamils' Consortium in Sweden has provided financial assistance for the Mother Sarathathevi Girls Home in Mallikaitivu village in the Muttur division as part of an ongoing effort to support assist the administration in day to day running of the children's home. The Girls home was founded in 1994 to give shelter to children who lost their parents in the war. Sarathathevi Girls Home currently looks after 30 girls, sources said
Tamil Welfare Society with the funding of Tamils and Tamil welfare institutions abroad runs this home and another one home for boys in Sambaltivu, a traditional village, which is located about 10 km off north of Trincomalee town. Swede Tamils' Consortium as the initial instalment has donated twenty five thousand rupees to Mallikatheivu Mother Sarathathevi Girls Home. At an event held in Trincomalee Vikneswara Maha Vidiyalayam recently Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, Trincomalee district parliamentarian handed over the money to the Mr.K.Shanmuganathan, President of the Trincomalee Welfare Association.
