"Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) has to be amended urgently. Sri Lanka Government delegation to the next round of talks in Geneva should strictly adhere to the principles promulgated in Mahinda Chintanaya," said Ven. Ellawala Medananda Thero, the leader of Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), the all monks Buddhist nationalist party, in a press meet held at the Buddhist Centre in Colombo Tuesday afternoon, sources said.
"Sri Lanka Government should not comply with Geneva Agreement. Sri Lanka cannot become a subservient entity to Liberation Tigers. "Auxilliary forces of PLOTE, EPRLF (Varathar faction), Karuna group, EPDP and Jihad group should not be disarmed. They are carrying arms to protect their own safety. If they are to be disarmed, Sri Lanka should disarm the LTTE also," Medananda Thera said. "We strongly condemn the Sri Lanka delegation for its acquiescent conduct at the negotiating table. We demand that the next round of talks is shifted to a location in Sri Lanka. "Talks should primarily concentrate on completely amending the illegal and unconstitutional Cease Fire Agreement," said Madananda Thera.
