TRO assists Mullaitivu child's heart surgery

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization Monday donated Rs 45,000 towards heart surgery expenses for Saruaka, an eight month old ailing baby from Silavattai in Mullaitivu district, sources in Vanni said. The surgery is to be performed at the Colombo Jayawardenepura Hospital, medical sources in Vanni said.

Ms Thushyanthi, a TRO official, gave the funds to the baby's father Mr Thamilchelvan in an event at the TRO Secretariat.

The donation was made from TRO's Special Medical Assistance fund, TRO officials said.

If not for the assistance the family would not have been able to save the life of the child, said the father, who was one among those affected by war and the tsunami, sources said.
