LTTE boat detained, says SLN

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has intercepted and taken into custody a boat belonging to the Liberation Tigers in the seas of Kodiyadi off the coast of Munai, Pt.Pedro in the north of Sri Lanka Wednesday morning, the northern command of the SLN said.

Sri Lankan military officials in Colombo said that explosives were found in the boat.

Sri L anka naval authorities said five LTTE cadres have been taken to the KKS naval base and that the arrested cadres will be produced in Mallakam courts. They will then be taken to Colombo for further interrogation.

Legal sources said that the cadres have not been produced in any Jaffna courts until Wednesday evening.

The LTTE has not confirmed the incident.
