A civilian was injured and several houses were damaged when Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers fired artillery from Kaddaiparichan army camp towards Ganeshapuram in Muttur east, around 8.20 a.m., Saturday, LTTE sources in the eastern town said.

Sellathamby Balasubramaniam, 52, of Kadatkaraichchenai in Muttur east, who was standing near his house was injured by SLA shelling, the sources said.

Mr.S.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head has lodged a complaint with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in the Trincomalee town.

"We bring this barbaric and inhuman attack by the SLA to your notice as it has blatantly violated the ceasefire agreement. The SLA shell attack and firing had taken place along the Ganeshapuram road, which is currently being used by thousands of villagers residing in LTTE held Muttur east for their traveling," said Elilan in his complaint to the SLMM.

The SLA soldiers fired shells towards LTTE's forward defense line (FDL) in Ganeshapuram, entrance to the LTTE held Muttur east villages. The shells had fallen about 25 meters away from the LTTE sentry, said Mr.S.Elilan in the complaint.
