Body washed ashore at Kallady beach

Kathankudy police, recovered the body of a middle-aged male at Kallady beach in Batticaloa Thursday night around 7.30 p.m, said Kathankudy police. The police estimated the age of the deceased to be around 35 years.

On information received from the public, the police rushed to the scene and brought the body to Kathankudy hospital, for identification.

Police are investigating the cause of death, sources said.

Meanwhile, the body of a youth with bullet wounds, recovered by Kathankudy police on the 18th April from the Poonochchimunai cemetery in Kallady and another body of a youth around 17 years, recovered by the Kathankudy police on the 11th of April from Veloor in Kallady, are being kept in the mortuary of the Batticaloa Teaching hospital, added the police.

The police, conducting further investigations, have requested the public to provide information to help identify the dead.
