Resettlement package for Trincomalee

The Trincomalee Government Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee is to go on a publicity campaign in the refugee camps in the Trincomalee District to popularise its package for resettling refugees, said sources in Trincomalee.
At a meeting on Thursday, presided over by S. T. Chandradasa, District Secretary, Trincomalee, it was decided that an incentive is to be offered to the 2,353 families to be resettled in the district in the form of a financial package. The package includes a 7000 rupee allocation for a temporary dwelling and 25,000 rupees to construct a permanent place of residence. In addition to this 32,000 rupee package, six months dry rations will also be offered. The divisional secretaries in the Trincomalee District are to visit the refugee camps to popularise the idea, said sources. Major General Nihal Jayakody, General Officer Commanding Division III, Brigadier Lawrence Fernando, Civil Co-ordinating Officer Trincomalee and divisional secretaries of the District were also present at the meeting.
