SLA arrests three youths in Vantharumoolai

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers Saturday afternoon arrested three youths in Eravur police district during the cordon and search operation conducted after the attack Saturday morning on SLA troopers stationed at the Marungaiyadi Pillaiyar temple in Maavadivembu, Vantharumoolai, security sources said.
Manickavel Navaratnam, 28, from Kaluvankerni, Arumugam Varatharajah, 36, from Valaichenai in Puthukudiyiruppu, and Shanmugam Varathan, 23, from Sithandy Velayutham Road, were detained by the SLA, interrogated and at 6:30 p.m. were handed over to the Eravur Police, police sources said. Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations at Eravur Police, C.M. Chandrapala said the three accused will be produced in Batticaloa Court Monday after Police investigations. One SLA soldier was injured in the Saturday morning attack near the Pillaiyar temple.
