A paramilitary gunman riding a bicycle shot and killed a Security guard of the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, at the main entrance of the hospital Tuesday at 4:05 p.m., police said.
The victim, Sivalingam Rajanikanth, 25, a resident of Arayampathi, was gunned down when he went to the shop in front of the hospital, located in high security zone. The paramilitary group had warned the security guards to ensure the security of their cadres who were admitted to the hospital after a LTTE attack on their camps in Thibulana, Welikande on April 30. However, on 15th May, unidentified gunmen entered the hospital and gunned down a paramilitary cadre and seriously wounded a paramilitary cadre admitted at the hospital.
