Tamil youth shot dead in Kachchakodithivu

Sri Lankan Army (SLA) shot dead a Tamil civilian N.Suthakar (30) of Palamppadru in Thampalakamam division Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. This incident had taken place at Kachchakodithivu village in Kinniya division, police sources said.

Police sources said that the troops opened fire when the youth attempted to snatch a rifle from a soldier.

Civil sources of the area said the youth was shot dead for no reason.

Following the shooting incident all shops in the village were shut down and the villagers confined themselves in their houses, the sources said.
