Sri Lanka Army was killing innocent Tamil civilians to intimidate Tamil population said the leader of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and Trincomalee district parliamentarian, R. Sampanthan, in an urgent letter to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse Saturday. The slaying of a leading Tamil businessman Kaththamuthu Perinaparasa was committed to intimidate the Tamil civilian population who have lived in the area for generations and centuries, said Mr. Sampanthan.

"This murder bears strong similarities to the murder of five Tamil students at Trincomalee town, a crime which has now been laid to rest, which was also committed to intimidate the Tamil civilian population in Trincomalee," said Mr. Sampanthan said in his letter

Mr.Sampanthan told President, "I have the fear that such killings could continue in different parts of Trincomalee. I am bringing these facts to your kind notice so that appropriate action is taken to prevent the killing of innocent Tamil civilians".
