STF shot and killed three Tamil youths in Akkaraipattu

Three Tamil youths were shot dead Wednesday afternoon around 2.30 p.m. by Special Task Force (STF) personnel in a cordon and search operation conducted in Alayadivembu Ward No: 8 in Akkaraipattu Police division in Amparai district.

The STF and Police sources claimed that the youths were attempting to lob a grenade on STF troopers.

The three youths shot dead along Alayadivembu main road have been identified as M.Mathavarajah, 22 of Murakoddanchenai in Batticaloa district, C.Vinayagamoorthy, 23 of Alayadivembu and V.Vadivel, 23 of Ward No: 8, Akkaraipattu in Amparai district.

Bodies of these youths were handed over to the Akkaraipattu government hospital, sources said.
