[TamilNet, Thursday, 24 August 2006, 17:20 GMT]
Armed men who entered the premises of Nelliaydi Central College, Wednesday night, destroyed the memorial and the statue of the first Black Tiger, Captain Miller. The statue, interpreted as the symbol of the destruction of Nelliyadi Sri Lanka Army camp, located in the SLA captured Vadamaradchi during the Eelam War I, 19 years ago, in 1987, was later hidden and saved by the residents during the Eelam War III SLA occupation of Jaffna in 1996, before being raised again in 2002.

Armed men entered the college premises and bound the hands of the watchman and destroyed the statue and the memorial.

Captain Miller drove an explosive laden truck on Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops garrisoned in Nelliyadi on July 05 1987. The day is observed as Black Tigers Day.
