Hand grenade recovered in Mannar

Mannar Police recovered a live hand grenade in the premises located in front of Mannar Co-operative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Bomb disposal squad of the security forces rushed to site and defused the hand grenade, sources in Mannar said.

Mannar Police received information Saturday morning that a live claymore mine was hidden in a heap of rubble close to the market located in front of the office of the Mannar Urban Council. Policemen rushed to site, and searched the area.

But they did not find a claymore mine, sources said.

Later the police party conducted a search operation in the premises where the CWE depot is located and recovered a live hand grenade.

Police sealed the area till search operation was over, sources said. No one was arrested during the search.
