Norwegian special envoy meets GoSL

Norwegian special peace envoy Jon Hanssen Bauer who is in Colombo on a four-day visit Monday morning met with Minister Nimal Sripala de Silva who led the government delegation that attended the Geneva peace talks held in February in Geneva under the direction of President Mahinda Rajapakse. The discussion which lasted for half an hour between them centred on taking forward the peace process between the warring parties.

Mr. Nimal Sripala de Silva handed over a set of government proposals to Mr. Jon Hanssen Bauer which is to be handed over to the LTTE leadership when the latter meets them in Killinochchi on Tuesday.

Hanssen Bauer is scheduled to meet Dr. Palitha Kohone, Secretary of the Government Peace Secretariat Monday evening.

Hanssen Bauer on return from Killinochchi Tuesday evening is scheduled to meet again Nimal Sripala de Silva and Dr. Palitha Kohone to convey the response of the LTTE leadership to the government proposals.

Hanssen Bauer will be in Colombo till Thursday and would fly to New Delhi thereafter to convey to the Indian leaders the progress made in his talks with the leaders of the government and the LTTE.
