Rajapakse, Wickremesinghe to meet before signing MoU

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse and Leader of the main opposition United National Party (UNP) Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe, are scheduled to meet Tuesday before signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), main constituent of the ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA), UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake said Saturday.

Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse is also the President of the SLFP.

The two main parties last week reached a consensus on a six-point programme after four rounds of talks on identified issues which included the ethnic conflict, constitutional reform and good governance.

The MoU between the SLFP and UNP is to be signed in the presence of Mahanayaka Theras of four Chapters, the Archbishop and Hindu and Muslim religious dignitaries before October 15th.
