Three bodies given decent burial in Mirusuvil

Three bodies of civilians killed, during the period after the August 11 clashes in areas close to Thenmaradchchi Sri Lanka Front Defence Lines in Muhamalai, were exhumed at Mirusuvil in Thenmarachchi Monday in the presence of Chavakacheri magistrate Annalingam Premshankar, legal sources in Chavakachcheri said. After the mandatory death inquests and postmortem examinations on the bodies were held they were given decent burial.
Shanmugam Sasikumar 32, resident of Educated Youth Scheme in Mirusuvil north, was shot dead on September 9 on his way home from Nanchankurichi by unknown gunmen hiding behind bushes. Velautham Kirupaharan 22 of Mirusuvil north, is alleged to be shot dead by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Field Bike Unit on August 14 in his vegetable garden. Nahan Nadarajah 57 was shot dead by unknown armed men at his house in Mirusuvil north on Aug 16. The relatives of the three deceased, in their statements at the inquest, said that the assailants were unknown to them. Bodies earlier exhumed for fresh investigations in Kodikamam and Varani areas in Thenmaradchchi south had been given decent burials. However, the bodies of more than 40 civilians alleged killed by Sri Lanka Navy at Allaipitty in the Kayts islet of Jaffna on August 17 are yet to be retrieved.
