SL Police introduce vehicle pass system in Amparai[TamilNet, Monday, 23 October 2006, 18:43 GMT]Sri Lanka Police introduced a "Pass" system for all vehicles leaving the Amparai district to rest of Sri Lanka with effect from Monday for security reasons. Owners of vehicles have been instructed to obtain their passes from the offices of Assistant Superintendent of Police located Akkaraipattu, Kalkudah and Amparai, Police said. Pass is issued under three different categories-special pass for emergency purposes, one month pass for State buses and two weeks' pass for private sector buses. These passes are to be renewed on the stipulated date. Only vehicles with passes will be allowed to proceed at check points located at Maha Oya, Ratmalgaha Elle, Vadivanna and Peliyagoda bridge.
