STF shoots dead two LTTE political cadres in Amparai

Special Task Force (STF) soldiers shot dead two from the political wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE)when the SLA cordoned off and searched Vinayagapuram in Thirukovil in Amparai Tuesday around 8:30 a.m, S. Jeya, Amparai District Political Head said. Area residents were led to a public place for intensive search and interrogation.

The dead youths were identified as Pavakkannan, 23 and Satha, 25.

Mr. Jeya said the youths had come to do political work in the Amparai district.

He added that the bodies are kept at the Pothuvil hospital and he is planning to receive them with the assistance of the International Committee of Red Cross Wednesday.

The Pothuvil STF, said that they recovered one pistol and two hand grenades from the two youths.
