UNP to expel dissident MPs

Dissident parliamentarians of the main opposition United National party (UNP) will be expelled from the party and removed from parliamentary membership after disciplinary inquiry, UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake, has told media in Colombo Wednesday.

UNP executive committee is scheduled to meet next week to study the political situation arisen after 19 dissident parliamentarians joining the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government and ten of them accepting cabinet rank minister posts and others deputy and project minister posts, Mr. Attanayake said.
