3 persons abducted in Jaffna

Armed person believed to be members of the Sri Lankan armed forces
abducted three youths from their homes in Jaffna Peninsula in the last three
days, civil society sources from Jaffna said. Relatives of the
youths have lodged complaints with the Human Rights
Commission (HRC) Jaffna branch.
Armed paramilitaries visited the house of Kiddinan Kirushnarasa, 34, a civilian in Paththini Amman Kovilady in Valvettiththurai, in Vadamaradchy, and
forcibly took him away Wednesday morning, according to relatives complaint. Meanwhile, armed persons, who identified themselves as Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers, took Sinnaththurai Vijayaruban, 23, of Kadduvan Road, Mallakam in
Valikamam region, for questioning in the presence of his
parents on Tuesday night. Vijayaruban's whereabouts are not known. On Monday night, men dressed in military fatigues abducted Selliah Siventhiran, 25, from his home in Madduvil East, Chavakachcheri in Thenmarachchi region. Although cases of extra judicial arrests, killings and
disappearances are on the increase in Jaffna Peninsula and the Sri Lankan armed forces and their allied paramilitaries are blamed, so far no actions have been taken, civil sources and human rights activists said.
