SLA re-opens Uyilankulam entry point

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Monday morning around 11.30 a.m. opened the entry point at Uyilankulam to enter areas controlled by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). SLA closed the Uyilankulam entry point following artillery attack on a SLA sentry located near the Uyilankulam sentry point Sunday night.
The SLA allows transport and public movement to and from LTTE areas and army controlled through Uyilankulam SLA sentry point on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Meanwhile, sources said, V.Visuvalingam, Mannar Government Agent (GA), is to request the SLA authorities to open the Uyilankulam sentry point every day in the week for public and transport. The GA will make the request at a discussion scheduled for February 16 at Thallady SLA camp, sources said. Major General Munasinghe, Area Commander, is expected preside over the discussion
