Body found in Vaharai well

Sri Lanka Police recovered a decomposed body of a male in a well in Vaharai around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Police sources said. The body was bound inside a sack. Police transferred the body to the Valaichchenai District Hospital for autopsy and identification.
Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has not permitted former residents to resettle in Vaharai after the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam cadres withdrew from the region and the SLA took control last month. Only the armed forces and allied paramilitaries are currently present in this area. Nearly 40,000 internally displaced people from neighboring Trincomalee district and around 15,000 people from Vaharai region fled to the military controlled areas in Batticaloa district following the military offensive. Colombo has not disclosed plans for any immediate resettlement the displaced.
