Displaced Jaffna youth knifed to death in Mannar

The body of a Tamil youth, residing in Parapankandal in Mannar district with his family after being displaced from Jaffna, was recovered Friday early morning at Palaikudi Junction in Nanattan division with severe cut injuries. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Mariyathas Girithas by his relatives, sources in Mannar said.
Unidentified persons had abducted the youth earlier, killed him by inflicting severe wounds to his neck and chest with a sharp instrument, and dumped his body at the Palaikudi Junction, police said. Mannar Police Friday afternoon handed over the body to the Mannar general hospital. T.J.Pirapaharan, Mannar Additional Magistrate viewed the body at the hospital and ordered that it should handed over to his relatives after postmortem examination, sources said.
