Two teenage students reported missing in Vadamaradchy[TamilNet, Sunday, 25 February 2007, 19:40 GMT]Two 15 year old students of Udupiddy American Mission College are reported missing since Saturday 1:30 p.m at Udupiddy, Vadamaradchy, while they were riding bicycles to attend class at a local private education centre, according to complaints made by family members at Valvetithurai police and Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna office. Poovathasan Yaseetharan and his friend Kunasekaralingam Sivaroopan, both from 15 mile post Udupiddy in Vadamaradchy, were listed as the missing students in the complaints. Family members said they suspect Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers had arrested them, according to Vadamaradchy sources. SLA troopers were conducting an extensive cordon off and search in the area Saturday around the time when the students were last seen. Local witnesses say they saw SLA troopers taking away two youths. The student community and education officials, are already agonized and fearful for the safety of Murugananthan Paramananthan, 19, a student at Hartley College, and Paranjothy Thananjeyan, 19, a student at Velautham Maha Vidyalaym in Vadamaradchy alleged to have been abducted by SLA troopers and the paramilitary members collaborating with them, Vadamaradchy sources said.
