Kopay police recovered the remnants of the body of a youth tied to an electricity post and then blown up by exploding a hand grenade, near at LTTE's Heroes Cemetary along Rasaveethy (road) in Kopay in Valligamam Sunday morning. Earlier the body of a missing youth from Nallur was found with gunshot wounds in this same area, Kopay residents said.
National identity card recovered from the victims clothes, indicated the body belongs to Nagalingam Naguleswaran, 26, from Church Road, Palaiyootu, Trincomalee, Kopay police said. Jaffna Judge K Vignarajah directed the police to arrange for postmortem examinations and to submit a report to the court. He also directed the police to arrange for the victims relatives to identify the body, legal source said. Kopay police are making arrangements to handover the remains to Jaffna Teaching Hospital. The assailants appear to have abducted the youth elsewhere and brought the victim to the crime scene before exploding the grenade, sources said.
