SLA conducts search operation in Muttur villages

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers arrested four Tamil youths in two-day cordon and search operations conducted Saturday and Sunday in Manatsenai and Peruveli, two Tamil villages in the Muttur south division in Trincomalee district in the government held territory. They were taken to army camp in the area for further questioning, according to complaints by their relatives to relevant authorities.
The search operation was conducted for two days daily commencing from around 11 a.m. till evening around 6.45 p.m. Houses and huts in these villages were subjected to severe checks, sources said. The youths are still being under interrogation in the army camp, sources said. Families residing in these villages fear continued harassment of youths in these areas by the security forces, sources said.
