Colombo Rights body meets German Ambassador

Delegation of Civil Monitoring Commission (CMC), a human rights watch dog based in Colombo, met German Ambassador Juergen Weerth in Colombo Tuesday and discussed the Human Rights situation in Colombo and NorthEast, civil society sources in Colombo said.

Parliamentarians Mano Ganesan, Luxmen Kiriella, Suresh Premachandran and CMC chairman Sirithunge Jayasooriya took part in the discussions held at the German Embassy in Colombo. German Ambassador was apprised of details of the current wave of abductions, disappearances and also the issue of prevailing internally displaced people in the East, CMC sources said. Second Secretary of the German Embassy, Cornelius Huppertz was also present at the hour long discussions.
