Further fighting in the Vanni

The Liberation Tiger said today that they had handed over the bodies of 5 Sri Lankan Army soldiers recovered by them during the fighting in Mankulam on Tuesday, to the International Red Cross Committee.

Meanwhile two Sri Lankan Army soldiers were killed and 11 wounded yesterday in a confrontation with the Tigers in Mankulam said army sources.

The Tigers announced in Vanni that three of their members died in this confrontation in Mankulam yesterday.

They are: Cpt. Gengatharan (Sivasubramanium Paheerathan, Jaffna), 2nd ltd. Arivukkarasan (Ariyanayagam Thvaruban, Kilinochchi) and Anpukkathir (Sooriyakumaran Sivapalan).

They said another member, Nakeeran (Nicholas Jude Selvakumar, Jaffna) died in an accidental explosion yesterday in the Vanni.
