SLA arrests 15 Tamils in Batticaloa

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) conducted a cordon and search operation in the villages of Siththandy, Morakkoddanchenai and Santhively in Eravur Police division in Batticaloa district around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested 15 persons, sources in Batticaloa said. After initial interrogation by the Army, all the arrested persons were handed over to the Eravur Police for further investigation at 5:00 p.m.
The SLA also did door to door checks and conducted a through search inside the houses. They also examined the identity cards of the persons. None of the arrested has been released so far. Siththandy is situated 22 km north of Batticaloa. Recently, in a shell attack on populated area in Siththandy, eight Tamil civilians were killed and 10 others were injured. More than 10 houses too were damaged in this attack.
