Unidentified armed men in a white van following a youth Saturday around 7:30 a.m, along Point Pedro-Jaffna road, opened rapid fire on him near Karaveddi Kunchar Kadai junction in Vadama'raadchchi and forcibly carried the seriously injured youth away in the van. Meanwhile, in a separate shooting at Ka'raveddi Saturday afternoon, unknown armed men shot a youth at his house, causing him serious injury.

The white van armed men abducted the injured youth when he fell on the road.

The youth was shot at and abducted at a place located within Sri Lanka Army (SLA) High Security Zone and just 200 meters from the SLA camps.

SLA troopers are always present at this place as it is the key road very frequently used by the SLA, residents in the area said.
