2 shot, killed in Thenmaraadchchi

Unidentified armed men shot dead a youth Monday morning at Dutch Road area in Meesaalai in Themaraadchchi, sources in Jaffna said. Meanwhile, unknown gunmen shot and killed a trader in a commercial establishment Sunday at Manthuvil in Thenmaraadchchi, the sources added.

Rasamuthu Kiritharan, 25, was identified as the youth killed Monday.

Residents of Meesaalai said that the youth may have been abducted elsewhere, brought to Meesaalai and shot dead.

The trader shot dead Sunday was identified as Nagalingam Tharumakulasingam, 48, a father of four children.

Kodikaamam police recovered Kiritharan's body and handed it over to Jaffna Teaching hospital for postmortem examinations.

Tharumakulasingham's body was given to his relatives after death inquest was held.
