ICRC Batticaloa hands over 6 bodies to LTTE

International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) Batticaloa representative
said that six bodies of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) combatants shot dead by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Wednesday at Chavukkadi Tha'lavaay area in Ea'raavoor in Batticaloa district were handed over to the LTTE Friday at Kaavaththamunai.
SLA shot and killed seven in a hand grenade attack on its troopers engaged in a search operation Wednesday at Chavukkadi Tha'lavaay area Batticaloa district. Batticaloa Magistrate who conducted the inquest into the deaths directed one of the bodies to be handed over to the dead man's mother from Thalavaay who identified her son's body. The other six bodies were kept at Batticaloa Teaching hospital and from there taken to Kaavaththamunai where they were handed over to the LTTE. Two of the LTTE combatants killed are females.
