Four Batticaloa youths abducted

Four Tamil youths were abducted by a group of unidentified armed men in Kalmunai, 37 km south of Batticaloa, yesterday around 4.00 a.m, said human rights sources there.

They are John Ramesh (21), John Jeevaranjan (19), Karunaratnam Ranjan (14) and Baliah Pirasanth (21), they added.

Six armed men came in a white van and abducted the youths, said the parents to the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Kalmunai.

Mr. R. Manoharan, chairman of the Kalmunai HRC said he had filed an entry at the Kalmunai police.

He said he had contacted the Special Task Force (STF) at Kalmunai Rest House and STF in Karaithivu.

However, the STF have told him that they had not arrested the youths.
